THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS – Nov. 13, 2019 – The Woodlands Children’s Museum recently received a generous donation from seven area locations of Primrose Schools, an early education provider serving infants through kindergarteners. The gift of $25,000 will be used to enhance a special gallery in the museum dedicated to young children age 2 and under.
“The museum is very grateful to receive this gift from Primrose Schools. Each location worked hard through school fundraisers to earn these funds, and we are honored to be chosen as the recipient,” The Woodlands Children’s Museum Executive Director Angela Colton said.
The donation will be used to build and install new elements within an ocean-themed exhibit at the museum. Exhibit components will be designed to help young children develop motor skills, engage in structured play and explore their surroundings. Phase 1 of the exhibit has been completed, with new flooring, a large-scale mural and an aquarium to define the space.
“Primrose’s commitment to learning through play and enriching the lives of young children matches perfectly with the mission of the museum. We enjoy having their students at the museum for visits and field trips, and look forward to working together on the exhibit,” stated Colton.
Primrose Schools is a national system of accredited private preschools with a vision to provide a balanced approach of purposeful play and nurturing guidance from teachers. Local owners Don and Arlena McLaughlin have served the community for over 20 years, operating seven schools throughout The Woodlands and Spring. Their newest location, situated in Hughes Landing, opened in September. More than 1,100 children are served throughout the area.
“Primrose Schools of The Woodlands and Spring are so excited to join The Woodlands Children’s Museum to create the toddler ocean exhibit. Families were so generous in their support of our annual Spring Fling charity events. The museum is such an asset for our community,” stated Ms. McLaughlin.
Additional elements within the exhibit are also available for sponsorship, including an interactive pirate ship, the Lake Woodlands sea monster wavy walk and a lighthouse lookout tower. The Woodlands Children’s Museum is accepting individual and corporate donations to assist with the fabrication, installation and maintenance of the exhibit. Information and design renderings can be found at the museum, 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive, Suite 280, The Woodlands, Texas 77381, or online at woodlandschildrensmuseum.org.
