THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Visitors can climb into a real firetruck and meet representatives of The Woodlands Fire Department at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 during Fire Prevention Week at The Woodlands Children’s Museum.
Kicking off Fire Prevention Week, along with the exciting visit from the firefighters, will be a special “Friendly Fireman” presentation. Little visitors will have the opportunity to create their own Five Little Firemen art project throughout the day in The Muse, the museum’s art bar.
The specially planned Boogie Bash, “Fire Prevention Boogie,” will begin at 11 a.m. Oct. 8, when children can enjoy fun gross motor activities and songs promoting fire safety. Activities will focus on safety tips, fitness, following directions and interacting with others.
“Fire Prevention week is a terrific blend of learning opportunities and fun,” Executive Director Angela Colton said. “Children love climbing inside the big firetruck The Woodlands Fire Department parks outside our museum, and the activities provide families with valuable safety tips and reminders.”
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has been coordinating Fire Prevention Week observances in the United States since 1922.
This year’s theme is, “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape!” The goal is to educate people about actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe in the event of a fire.
All museum activities will take place at 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77381.
Fire Prevention Week is included in the museum’s regular $7 admission price for visitors age 1 and older.
The Woodlands Children’s Museum is recommended for ages 7 and under. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

About The Woodlands Children’s Museum
The Woodlands Children’s Museum, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, was founded out of a desire to meet the community’s proven need for a positive environment where children and their families can learn, play and make special memories throughout the year. At the museum, fun and learning go hand in hand, whether children are creating art, singing along to a musical performance or conducting a science experiment. The museum also has made it a priority to bring children multi-ethnic and multicultural experiences that celebrate cultural and global differences and strengthen common bonds. Programs frequently are delivered in partnership with other nonprofit organizations, always with the goal of making a positive difference in the life of a child. woodlandschildrensmuseum.org.
