Fundraiser for cancer patient raises $10,000

Thumbs up for a successful fundraiser for nine-year-old Cameron Gooch who has been battling Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer, for almost two years.

Jennifer Lavender, Banking Center Manager, and Linda Atkinson, Universal Banker, members of the Montgomery County Association of Business Women (MCABW), came together to support the Gooch family with a bowling fundraiser.

The fundraiser was held at Time to Spare Entertainment in Conroe when the MCABW  formed teams to bowl for Cameron. Thanks go out to owner, Ray, and his staff for helping make it a great success. The event was attended by many people and the theme was Astro’s baseball. In 2017, Cameron became an honorary Astro and signed a contract as well as received an Astro’s uniform – number 17. He also rode in the World Series parade. Live and Silent auctions also raised funds.

A $10,000 check was presented to Cameron Gooch and his family June 26 at the MCABW monthly business luncheon meeting at Conroe’s Incredible Pizza.

Carol Gooch, MCABW founder and Cameron’s grandmother,  said the family wants to thank everyone who supported the fundraiser.
