The 2nd Annual Rising Stars and Legends of Texas will be presented in various venues throughout downtown Conroe beginning Sunday March 4 through Saturday March 10, offering opportunities for the public to experience the arts organizations represented by the Greater Conroe Arts Alliance.
Each entity will present its own genre, including unique fine art, poetry, theatrical presentations, cinematography, music compositions, instrumental music, choral performances, and Texas history through live performances during the week.
The Greater Conroe Arts Alliance represents 15 non-profit organizations in the Conroe area: Christian Youth Theatre, Conroe Art League, Conroe Live, Conroe Symphony Orchestra, Crighton Theatre Foundation, Friends of the Flag Foundation, Heritage Museum of Montgomery County, Jazz Connection, Montgomery County Choral Society, Montgomery County Literary Arts Council, Montgomery County Performing Arts Society, Players Theatre Company, Stage Right, The Woodlands Show Chorus, and the Young Texas Artists Music Competition.
The Texas Tenors, 3-time Emmy Award recipients, will be the kick off ticketed event for the “Rising Stars and Legends of Texas” on Sunday March 4, accompanied by members of the Conroe Symphony Orchestra presented by the Montgomery County Performing Arts Society (MCPAS). Each day will offer a different event with a culmination of many organizational events Saturday, March 10 beginning at 8 a.m. at Founder’s Plaza Park with Chalk Up Conroe and ending with the Young Texas Music Competition Finalists at the Crighton Theatre. Events are free to the public with the exception of the Texas Tenors, March 4 and the YTA Music Competition Final March 10.

7 p.m. — Debbie Glenn with Billy Hillman from Southern Disposition will perform at The Red Brick Tavern.
Tuesday, March 6
10-5 p.m. — Conroe Art League opens National Invitational Exhibition and Competition through Saturday
5 p.m. — C-Kidz sponsored by the Players Theatre Company will present a LIVE radio show- “Batina’s Best First Day” at the Owen Theatre
7 p.m. — Stage Right will present 2 film documentaries “ History of the Crighton Theatre”, and “Bonnie and Clyde” at the Crighton Theatre
Wednesday, March 7
7 p.m. — Music at the Corner Pub
Thursday, March 8
9 a.m. — YTA Preliminary Competition for String Division at the Crighton Theatre
7 p.m. — Cecil Shaw performing Rhythm and Blues sponsored by MCPAS at Pacific Yard House
8 p.m. — The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee-Friends and Family Night sponsored by the Players Theatre Company at the Owen Theatre. First come seating as available.
Friday, March 9
9 a.m. — YTA Preliminary Competition for Instrument Division at the Crighton Theatre
2 p.m. — YTA Preliminary Competition for Voice at the Crighton Theatre
5 p.m. — Music in the Park in Founder’s Plaza Park sponsored by the Corner Pub with Shellee Coley
6 p.m. — Music in the Park at Founder’s Plaza Park sponsored by the Corner Pub with Wanda/Grace

2 p.m.-3 p.m. — Montgomery County Choral Society at Owen Theatre
2-3 p.m. — Poetry Readings at the Madeley Gallery
2-3 p.m. — Dance 105 Flash Mob Dance and Chikawa Aztec Dancers at Founder’s Plaza Park
3-4 p.m. — Art Interaction Panel hosted by the Montgomery County Literary Society at the Corner Pub
4-5 p.m. — The Woodlands Show Chorus at the Owen Theatre
5-7:30 p.m. — Bach, Beethovan and Barbeque Dinner, dancing and auction to benefit YTA at Martin’s Hall (RSVP Required)
5-8 p.m. — Conroe Art League Rising Stars Reception at the Madeley Gallery
7:30 p.m. — Young Texas Artists Competition Finals at the Crighton Theatre. Tickets available at CrightonTheatre.org
Food will be available for purchase from Carmelita’s Mexican Restaurant and Red Onion on the Square, both with venues in the Downtown Conroe area.
