If you think your brain is on a downhill spiral, think again. It may just need a little TLC and a boost from proper nutrition.

Think nothing can help your forgetfulness or “fuzzy” thinking? Think again!

According to “Making a Good Brain Great” by Dr. Daniel Amen, world-renowned clinical neuroscientist, psychiatrist and brain-imaging expert, you can jumpstart your brain health just by starting out with these Seven Simple Steps.

  1. Increase your water intake.

  2. Decrease your calorie intake.

  3. Increase your “brain food” intake … starting with fish and fish oil.

  4. Increase antioxidant intake … starting with blueberries, blackberries and cranberries.

  5. Balance your proteins, good fats and carbohydrates.

  6. Select 24 healthy foods and include them in your meals every week.

  7. Include healthy snacks and avoid junk food snacks. Occasionally treat yourself to a delicious snack with 8 ounces of frozen blueberries; 6 ounces of Greek yogurt; 1 teaspoon of vanilla to help rise serotonin levels; and top it off with cinnamon (to taste)
