Children invited to create “Thank You” cards for active military

130513 - Woodlands Children's MuseumNext weekend, May 18 and 19, The Woodlands Children’s Museum will provide a great opportunity for area children to learn how important it is to thank those who put their families and their own lives on hold to protect this nation and serve as an American soldier. Children are encouraged to get creative and make their own “thank you” cards that will be shipped with care packages to those serving in active duty.

The museum will collect donations of food items, including beef jerky, flavored single drink mixes and energy bars, along with baby wipes which are really handy when you can’t take a shower everyday.

As Memorial Day quickly approaches, it is especially important to share this program with the community and encourage all children to do something special for our military men and women.

The Texas Chapter of the U. S Troop Foundation has volunteered to ship these items and the handmade cards.

“We are so grateful to our troops,” executive director Angela Colton said. “This weekend gives our community an opportunity to band together and recognize these courageous and hard-working individuals.”

Active military and their immediate families are always admitted FREE of charge to The Woodlands Children’s Museum, which is a participant in the “Blue Star Museum” program.
