Christians joined Scott Baker, Chairman of Montgomery County Eagle Forum, in prayer when he opened the National Day of Prayer event, Thursday evening, May 2, at First Assembly of God Church in Conroe.

Following the opening call, 12-year-old Kelley Anne Roland gave a special presentation of the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by presentation of the colors by a local Cub Scout Troop.

More than two hundred area residents joined in the evening of prayer. Special music included the National Anthem by Brandi Spurgin, and the “Prophets of Praise” Quartet sang Battle Hymn of the Republic.

Following an array of prayers for family, churches, homeless, education and law enforcement, keynote speaker Pastor Lloyd Maddoux of First Assembly closed the service by encouraging the audience to pray for our nation, with his message based on Matthew 12:21 “In His name the nations will put their hope.”
