Civil War Reenactors

When citizens throughout Montgomery County and surrounding communities joined forces to share their vision of bringing Texas history to life, they developed a plan to bring the biggest and best historical event the county has ever experienced to Fernland Historical Park in Montgomery – Texian Heritage Festival.

In just a few short weeks those plans will become reality as dozens of reenactors converge on Fernland including the Texian Heritage Army and Encampment. Guests will be entertained with Texas Revolution era cannon fire, army camp live, equestrian (cavalry) demonstrations, and reenactments showing the significance of the flags of the Texas Revolution, along with the history of the Lone Star Flag.

Below you will find information about the Texian Heritage Festival, and you are invited visit to sign up for the Texian Heritage Gazette…which will bring periodic festival announcements, updates and progress reports to everyone who signs up to receive our email newsletters.

We’ve also made it easy for anyone to join the newsletter email list by visiting our Facebook page where they will find a link marked “Email Signup!” at the top of the page.

Chili Cook-Off Teams Welcome:

Are you the best Chili cook in the county?

We’ll give you a chance to prove it on October 19 when you reach for the top prize with your secret concoction of meat, spices, peppers and whatever else tickles your taste buds and opens your sinuses. So, if you’re ready to prove you make the “chiliest chili” in the county, visit, read the rules, and send your information to Dennis Duvall.

Vendors Welcome:

We are still accepting vendors for this event, and welcome inquiries at this web page:

The vendor fee is $75 per booth BEFORE October 1; afterwards, it will be $100.

With an anticipated crowd of more than three thousand this year, vendors should load up all their wares and be prepared for a great day! We are not accepting mass-produced, imported items, and prefer handcrafted … home cooked … pioneer-style … farm fresh … original … authentic … home made … and so on …

Volunteer Opportunities Available:

Many volunteer opportunities are available for you and/or your organization to get involved, helping to ensure that this inaugural event will be a huge success! Go to this web page for volunteer information:

Be sure to mark your calendar with big, bold letters for OCTOBER 19, and come on out for the most fun you can possibly have and learn about Texas History while you’re there … and it’s just ONE DOLLAR to get in.
