Capture a glimpse of the Living History and Culture of Texas during the 1800s …

130819_300dpi-BLUE FLAG Texian-Heritage-Logo-editedRelive the days of the early 1800s at the Texian Heritage Festival on Saturday, October 19 at Fernland Historical Park in Montgomery. The Festival is a family event created to educate, inform, and increase awareness of Texas history through education, reenactments, and community engagement, with proceeds serving low income families in Montgomery County, Texas.

The mission of the festival conforms to the Community Reinvestment Act guidelines, and Montgomery County Emergency Assistance will receive the majority of the proceeds to help move people into self-sufficiency.

There will be children’s activities, reenactments of battles and lifestyles typical of the 1800s, shoot-outs, cannons, chuck wagons, a chili cook off, and demonstrations of weaving, candle-making, and Dutch-oven cooking.

Entry fee will be $1 to allow families to come and enjoy the day. The event is scheduled to be the best Frontier event in many years with expected attendance of over 3,000!
Spirit of Texas Bank is the Presenting Sponsor with many level partnerships still available.

Join us as a craft or food vendor, a reenactor, or volunteer, or just come to enjoy the day  with your family. Participate in Texas history with a broad range of historically accurate events, period costumes, demonstrations, and just plain fun with children’s games they’d have played during the period when Texas became a nation and settled the area that is now known as the greatest state in the union — TEXAS!

Excitement about this unique event is building, and you’ll want to keep up with all the announcements about the festivities and fun we’re planning as the festival organization continues. And, of course, you’ll want your friends and family to join you, so clue them in about the Texian Heritage Festival as well, and encourage them to sign up for the newsletter updates

Also, sign up for the Texian Heritage Gazette … which will bring periodic festival announcements and progress reports to everyone who signs up to receive this email newsletter. You can even sign up for the Gazette here by clicking here.
